Taco Eating Contest
The Open Door School had a fundraiser that included a concert and a taco eating contest. Our neighbor Orlando graciously (foolishly) agreed to enter. This contest was an insane 15 minutes long -- what were they thinking. It was pretty warm, very sunny, and no one appeared to be feeling well afterward. Orlando missed a third place tie by one taco. He ate 17! tacos in 15 minutes. The winner ate an astounding 26 tacos. Yikes. Apparently, the first contest was in 1976 and Eddie Wilson was the winner, so he sponsored this one at Threadgills. Very nice of him, but hopefully next year the contestants will get less time to make themselves ill. Wyatt enjoyed the scene. He really liked the fact that he got to be outside for hours and drink lemonade.
