Some Kids Don't Have Books

Wyatt is, generally, a very sweet little boy. He's very concerned about others' feelings and always asks about how people are feeling or why they are sad, or asking us what's wrong if we seem the slightest bit perturbed. But he was just extra sweet the other night when we were looking at the Heifer Project catalog. Ross was asking Wyatt which animals we should get for the poor children who don't have enough food. They looked through the catalog and discussed it some. Ross then explained how some children don't have food ("or a refrigerator?" Wyatt asks incredulously). Ross then asked Wyatt if he would like to pick out some toys to give to the children for Christmas. Wyatt, of course, thought that was a great idea. We then went on to bath time, books, and bed time. When I was tucking him in he said to me, "Mommy, some kids don't have any books?" That's right, Wyatt, some kids don't have books. "Mommy, we need to give them some of my books." My heart just melted for how sweet he is (most of the time :)

That is such a sweet comment! It's a credit to you & Ross that Wyatt thinks these things. (I can't imagine my 4-year-old nephew even saying that.)
