December is one of my favorite months. Despite all the activities and juggling, the joy exceeds the madness. The kids remind us of all the fun memories of our own childhoods and the magic of Christmas. The month was full of busy rushing from event to event, but still much fun. We celebrated Mimi's 92nd birthday, which we were thrilled to do. Wyatt performed in a kindergarten program that was very cute. In addition to Santa, the tooth fairy made two visits to our house this month. We did our usual tour of Christmas celebrating on Christmas Eve with Bobo, Christmas Day with the Bunkers, and the 27th with Papa Hendo, Miss Kathleen and Mimi. That is a lot of Christmas, but the kids enjoyed the endless feasting and present opening. Santa brought Wyatt an archery set, which he loves. Wallis received a firehouse play set, which has garnered less enthusiasm. Mama and Daddyman got the kids each a bike. Wyatt loves it and Wallis likes the fact that she has what Wyatt has.
I took off from work between December 24 to January 2. The kids have had lots of extra entertainment. Wyatt and I finally finished Swiss Family Robinson, which was more than 350 pages. We are now reading South, a real life Antartic exploration tale set in 1914, which Pops recommended to us. Otherwise, things just move along at break-neck speed around here. Birthday parties, lunches with Mimi, dinners with Pops, Momar, GG, Uncle Andy, Meagan and Ryan. Playdates on Saturday mornings with Teresa, Joe, Isaac & Helen. Despite the fact that we never plan anything or go anywhere, we are in constant motion.
I like December because it is a conclusion; it's a time to reflect on a chapter (though an arbitrary one) and see what we have accomplished. Our family would write a very dull Christmas newsletter, but we had a good year. Little ones getting bigger. Us keeping it together and staying healthy. So cheers to another year of that, and hopefully achieving my personal goal of a trip to Maine and the East Coast. And maybe Ross's goal of "finishing" the new room and decks.*
*nothing is ever "finished" to the satisfaction of the builder around here.

Love the matching pajamas! I want to hear more about the archery set next time I see you. Joe heard that his cousins have one and has been asking for one too.
