Sick Little Bubs
Wyatt has his first big bout of sickies. He had two little colds the first month he started baby school, and he's had a runny nose almost as often as not for the past couple months, but this was his first illness that needed medical treatment. On Friday when I dropped him at school I noticed that in addition to his usual snotty nose, his eyes were a bit crusty. But he didn't cry and didn't seem too grouchy. Usual daycare cooties, I figured. I noted this on his sign-in sheet. As soon as I got to work (about 15 minutes later), his teacher called. "Um, yeah, I think we mentioned this to the parents yesterday but one of Wyatt's classmates has pink eye and we think he has it, too." I am thinking, which parents did you mention this to? Not us. I can assure you that I would not have dropped him at school if I thought he had pink eye and I would not have put in contacts this morning, i.e. stuck my fingers directly into my eyes after handling him, had I any idea about this infectious illness. I am not a big germophobe, but maybe a little one. Anywhoo, Wyatt's teacher said he was sleeping and did not need to be picked up. Okay, are you sure? They were sure. We got a doctor's appointment for early afternoon. Around noon, a third call. "Um, yeah, Wyatt is really sick and needs to be picked up." I go pick him up. This pink eye crap is bad. He looked horrible. His eyes were extremely swollen and goopy. Ross takes him to the doctor and finds out that he has a fever, a cold, pink eye, and a raging ear infection. And I swear I had no idea until that morning, because he was not acting abnormally. A little tired, yes. But he often boycotts naps, so it is not unusual. No crying that day or the previous day. Last night, much crying. We have one sick Babu. Anyway, he is completely medicated and doing much better now. Here are a couple pics of a very sick baby making a HUGE mess of his cream of wheat. Warning, these pictures are graphic. We can't post pictures of his parents, because they look too hideous and not nearly as cute to start with. That's the long story of Wyatt's first major sickies.
That's a raisin on his cheek, in case you are wondering.
