Third Birthday
Actually it was his fourth birthday, but we have a strange birthday counting convention. Wyatt Paul turned three on March 6. Despite my general blogging laziness, this post would have been up last week, but our computer on is on death's door and wasn't working. It is only working at this very moment, but hasn't worked all week. I think it might be time for a new one, but Ross' renaissance man thriftiness means he is hell-bent on fixing this one. I think three years for a $350 laptop is a pretty good run and we need to move on :)
We had Wyatt's birthday at Pease Park again. I felt a tiny bit guilty (not really) because he had his birthday at the same park with the same menu last year. BUT, he asked for his birthday at the park. And I surprised him with fire truck theme. He asked for a tractor birthday again, but he REALLY loves all things fire truck related, so that's what we did. It rained in the morning, but cleared up beautifully--okay there was the small matter of 35 mph wind, but it was sunny! Several of Wyatt's school friends came, which was really nice. He really enjoys his classmates, a couple of whom have been with him since he was in the infant room.
Wyatt had a wonderful birthday and was on his very best behavior. I know every mom thinks her kid is the _________ (smartest, cutest, most darling) kid ever, and I guess I am no different. Maybe he's not objectively the smartest, cutest whatever, but I just enjoy almost every minute of this little guy. All kids go through their easy and not so easy phases--he's been very easy for the past few months and it's hard not love the stuffing out of a kid who sleeps 11 hours a night, and will eat a big plate of broccoli, tomatoes, and quiche and then tell you he's going to go take a nap! (Even if he's not exactly potty trained on his third birthday after 18-months of training!) I love you Wyatt P.B.H! Looking forward to another fun and interesting year.
Moses wearing his fire hat.
The scene. Moses's dad (pictured previously) helped me get the table cloth stable enough for Ross to take over upon arrival. Ross used about a half-roll of masking tape to keep this thing on the table!
Satya brought a tub of lady bugs. Then she accidentally dropped them. This provided a good half-hour of entertainment for the kids as they inspected the bugs and watched them take flight.
My friends, Dan and Teresa. And Wyatt's buddy Joe. Dan mocked my purchase of "punchy balloons"-anyone else remember these? Well, they were a big hit with the kids. Dan's punishment for mocking me was having to blow up a half dozen of these for the kids.
Holden and Wyatt. Holden has the very same birthday as Wyatt and they are classmates from way back. We went to Holden's party at the bounce house gym on Sunday. His parents were more reasonable and planned an inside birthday. Moses, Holden, and Wyatt had a blast at Holden's party too.
Fire truck cake from Central Market. The food at CM is sub par but their desserts are delicious!
