Wyatt Turned One

Wyatt officially became a one-year-old at 5:15 p.m. today. In celebration of his birth we took him out for pancakes this morning and then his daddy and I spent much of the day preparing for his birthday BBQ tomorrow. Wyatt loved the pancake breakfast (even without syrup). He was probably just excited get a break from the muesli, yogurt, and applesauce that he eats every morning. Wyatt also had a visit with the Warners at Central Market, where he played on the playscape for a while. He had a couple naps, too. Ross has been trying to get me to allow Wyatt a pillow. Ross insisted that Wyatt really wanted one. However, pillows are strictly prohibited for babies due to SIDS risk, so I never give in. I went to check on Wyatt when I got home from running an errand and this is how I found him. I immediately accused Ross of giving him a pillow, but turns out this pillow was resting on the edge of the crib until Wyatt caught sight of it and employed it for his nap. He looks very pleased with it.

I thought SIDS risk wasn't very great at age one? I thought the most risk occurred between 3-5 months? I need to go re-research this! I just read a very biased article from the Atlantic (The Case Against Breast-Feeding
http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200904/c ... astfeeding ) that had some interesting and contradicting information on breastfeeding. Apparently, there some information floating around out there saying it isn't as great as it is currently believed. I'm extremely skeptical, of course.
